The runway was set up with sculptures like Greek gods, mummies and arches inspired from Indian, Aztec and Egyptian styles. The backdrop was inspired by the medieval period.
The show started with a model wearing Gucci logo patterned pencil skirt paired with a button-up shirt and long jacket. The accessories were bold with pearls, logo pendants and a hint of tribal jewelry like oxidized earrings. Metallics were prominent in the collection. There were metallic jackets, sweaters, dresses, tops, trousers and gloves, too! Too much glam. And a metallic dress looked like aluminum foil draped on the body. I wouldn’t wear it even if I was paid to!
Fanny bags, head scarves, hats, leggings, sunglasses complemented the outfits. I loved the heart-shaped sunglasses. How fancy?!
Personally, I loved the menswear as they were actually wearable and had new trends like short shorts. Suits made a statement in the collection and the cartoon characters inspired apparel – a metallic Snow White sweater and Bugs Bunny – stole the show.
Accessories included layered beaded necklaces, animal head rings, sunglasses and bags. The bags had graphic prints, text and the logo written as ‘Guccy’.
The 70s style shoulder pads, men’s embroidered shoes and flats surely made a statement. Floral prints and leather outfits looked alluring. A metallic purple gown reminded us of the layered purple gown from Fall Winter 2017 RTW collection.
As per the fashion show description, Alessandro Michele said, “I’m trying to translate fashion in a playground that is more about the contemporary population.” Indeed it looked like a playground with so many different things happening in the runway. I loved their accessories while I doubt the wearability of their apparel. But who cares with such artistic creation!
